Welcome to the official Web site for the nonprofit Uptown Shelby Association, Inc.

Established in 1982, Uptown Shelby Association (USA) operates the Main Street program in the city of Shelby, NC. USA was one of the first five chartered Main Street Associations in North Carolina and one of the first 30 Main Street programs nationally under the pilot program launched by the National Trust For Historic Preservation.

USA has four main priorities: economic development, historic preservation, promotion of Uptown events and working with other organizations to improve the quality of life and commerce in the Uptown area. The Main Street approach is a proven model for community involvement in development and redevelopment of business and civic districts. A map of the uptown area is available by click here MAP

We are goverened by a Board of Directors, and operate with a staff of three: a full-time executive director, a full-time events coordinator and a part-time office manager. USA board meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm at our offices, 211 South Trade Street. Uptown Shelby business and property owners and the public are encouraged to attend.
